Condensed Sulfite-Alcohol Bard (CSAB)
Description of product
Condensed Sulfite-Alcohol Bard (CSAB) is a byproduct derived from the sulfite pulping process in the paper industry. It is a lignosulfonate-based material, containing a blend of organic acids, sugars, and alcohol derivatives. CSAB is widely used in drilling fluids for its dispersant, stabilizing, and fluid loss control properties.
Applications:
- Oil and Gas Industry:Acts as a thinning agent (dispersant) in water-based drilling fluids.
- Reduces viscosity and improves flow characteristics of drilling muds.
- Provides effective filtration control to minimize fluid loss in porous formations.
- Stabilizes clay and shale formations by preventing hydration and swelling.
- Construction Industry:Used as a plasticizer in concrete to improve workability and reduce water requirements.
- Agriculture:Serves as a binder in pelletized fertilizers.
- Mining Industry:Used in ore flotation as a dispersant for mineral slurries.
